Synopsis
Henry is a brilliant engineer and has created an AI consciousness. He calls his robot creation, William.
No one knows about William. Henry is agoraphobic and keeps to himself, even away from his pregnant wife, Lily.
One day Lily’s coworkers show up, wanting to meet Henry. Henry introduces them to William, and that’s when things go from strange to horrific. Soon Henry and Lily discover that the security upgrades they made to keep people out, might just keep them trapped inside.
Thoughts:
This was the perfect book for the spooky season. I listened to it while carving pumpkins, and it really helped set the mood. This book was intense in the best possible way. I was hooked right from the start. The writing was so vivid it really made me feel like I was trapped in the house with the characters. Even though this is a shorter book, the characters were well developed and thought out. I really loved how they all added to the story and kept me engaged. Then the twist at the end was great, so much fun and so unsettling.
I listened to this one on audio and it was so good. Horror on audio has just been the best for me lately and this one was on point.
This book is the perfect blend of sci-fi and horror with a delightful twist.
