Synopsis:
Nothing ever happens in Fairhill Vermont, except when it does, and the question being asked is “What have you done?”
In such a small secure community, everyone trusts everyone and that they are who they say they are. Until one of the local teenagers doesn’t return home, she’s found lying in a field.
Now everyone in town is a suspect. Someone did this. Everyone wants answers.
Thoughts:
This was a fantastically well-done audiobook. It really begged the question as to how and what you would do if someone you loved was murdered. There was so much suspense and angst that I didn’t want to put the book down! Getting the story from multiple points of view was great and the three different narrators did a fantastic job bringing the story to life. Full cast narrations are always so special, and this one was just that because they all brough their A game and delivered a truly emotional experience. Which for a story about a dead young girl, was needed. The story was fast paced and engaging which only added to me not wanting to put it down. The chapters were also the perfect length, not too short that they felt choppy, and not too long that they felt drawn out, just right. My only complaint is I wish that the ending was a little more fleshed out and developed, it worked, I just would have preferred a little more from it.
I look forward to what book Shari Lapena is going to release next. I love them all but they only seem to be getting better with time.
