Thoughts:
This was an entertaining and easy beach read perfect for summer days. I listened to the audio when I could and followed along in my hardback when I wasn’t listening. I really enjoyed the multiple timelines. We covered three different times. The 1950’s were for Hannah. Then around 2010 and 2022 surround Mallory and her son Sam. Most of the book was about Mallory and her and Sam’s journey of self-discovery and trying to find a kidney for Sam after a mushroom accident. When the past and present timelines come together it is just *chefs kiss*, absolutely perfect and I loved it so much. The pacing is more relaxed, I don’t want to say slow, but it was meandering, which is on par with what I would expect for this category of book. My biggest complaint was the ending. While I knew the direction things were heading, I was hoping for something different because it just felt played out and not romantic like I think the book was going for. It was all too nicely tied up with a pretty bow for me and I would have enjoyed a little ambiguity in this case, though, it did make sense and all the signs were there.
