Overall Take:

This was a fun and lighthearted take on a rom com with a unique spin.

Star Rating:

4.5 Stars

Genre:

Romance, Chick Lit

Synopsis:

For personal reasons, Sophie can’t cancel her wedding despite her soon-to-be husband being a serial cheater. So, when her friend hires a professional objector, she goes with it. After the wedding is called off for good, Sophie gets to know Max, but promptly thought she would forget him.

But the more she gets to know him, the more she begins to wonder if they can work together saving people from hurting each other. As they spend more and more time together, they start to realize their chemistry is top notch.

Sophie grapples with the fact that she may have fallen in love with her partner in crime.

Thoughts:

This book was a fun and lighthearted listen and both narrators did a fantastic job. This story was told via dual points of view, and I love that there was a narrator for each perspective. I thought they each did a fantastic job bringing the character to life.

The banter between Sophie and Max was just top notch and getting to hear it on audio and experience it that way was very entertaining. It was just so sassy and snarky.  I think this is one of those books that is so much better on audio than it was reading pages with my eyes.

I’ve been reading quite a few fake dating books lately and I have learned that I really enjoy them all, they are so much fun. I think the premise of this one was also interesting because I’ve never heard of a professional wedding objector before, and I love the way it was handled.

This was my first Lynn Painter novel, but I can’t wait for the next one!
