Synopsis:
Cam inherited a whole lot when his mom died, including the Ashby house where his aunt and her family live. Cam wants nothing to do with the house, so he moved to Colorado to get away, and send money for upkeep.

Ten years later, Cam is summoned home in the wake of his uncles death. His wife falls in love with the house, but Cam doesn’t see the appeal. When his wife learns that all of this is Cams, she tries to convince him to stay. But the family has other plans. Nothing is as it seems as Ashby house.

Thoughts:
This is my favorite book by Rachel Hawkins, hands down. This is her best work yet and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next! I don’t think I can say enough good things.

This book drew you in, had you thinking things were one way and then here’s a twist. It was beautiful. And it didn’t just happen once in the book, it was a few times. Just when you think you are starting to figure it out, oh boy, here comes a twist.

The pacing was fast and it kept me on my toes. It was on the verge of being too fast, but not in a bad way, just in a buckle up and hold on way.

The characters in this one, oh my. If you love a good morally grey character then you will love this book, because everyone is. They were all a lot of fun to read, and I had fun doing so. It was entertaining to get the story from multiple points of view. This book also had mixed media, which is also always a kick to read, and that was the case here. It really added to and brought the story to life.

Now onto the ending. This book ended in such a nice way and it’s exactly how you write an ambiguous ending. I usually preferred a nice clean ending with a boy on top, but this one just worked every which way for me. The writing was superb and top notch. I couldn’t put this one down. I also really enjoyed the gothic vibes that shined through, which for being fast paced, was not easy to accomplish as I usually associate this with being much slower.

I cannot wait for you to get your hands on this book. It is so good. Pre-Order, order, get it and devour it. You won’t be disappointed.

Highly recommend. This book was exactly what I look for in a thriller.
